Digital Cameras - If You Don't Have One, Here Is Why You Should!

The instant results seen with a digital camera has revitalized the whole photographic industry. With no longer any need for film, digital cameras have brought us to a new era of photography. The lack of mechanical parts has meant that the size of these cameras is only dictated by the size of battery needed to power them. With the upsurge of home computers it means that almost anyone can store and then play with the images on their own pc. These images are stored as pixels; essentially a small dot digitally represented by 1's and 0's which certain equipment can read.

The love with digital cameras is because the results are instant unlike film because of the longer required time to be processed. Storing the information as digital-bytes is how this type of camera keeps the pictures you have taken, safe and ready to view, store or print! Of course, because the images are digital, it means that they can be stored, filed and manipulated using a computer or specialized printer. Although the images are stored in electronic form, there is no discernible difference in the picture you see when it is printed out.

Always choose a digital camera with an optical zoom as this will enable you to take pictures without any distortion; remember how grainy and blurred images become when using your camcorders digital zoom function? Don't waste money on standard disposable batteries since rechargeable ones these days are much more affordable and will last much longer which will save you a ton of coin over purchasing the standard ones. If you want to do more than just take simple snap shots, look for a model that comes with a lot of extra features. Some of these cameras give you some unbelievable functionality to create stunning photos you can be proud of; just a few examples of functions to look for include:

Sepia shots

Multiple exposures (on a single image)

Mosaic effect shots

Almost all models of digital cameras today accept at least one kind of storage card to store more images because the high megapixel pictures take up a great deal of memory. With that said, you can go out and buy a 1 or 2GB memory card which will store any where from a few hundred images to a few thousand depending on the size of the pictures you are taking. If you want to take a lot of high resolution pictures then spend a few extra bucks and pickup a 4GB memory card. You will have to be taking pictures of everything all day to fill that up!

With digital cameras now getting very tiny compared to a few years ago you can actually carry around a high specification variant in your pocket and still be able to take fantastic pictures. So by doing this you won't feel as if you are a journalist, tourist or nature photographer wherever you go. I trust the brief information that has been supplied here will help you with your choice of camera. With all its technology, versatility and portability, the digital camera is no longer the future of photography it is here and now.
