Some people are trying to push the "idea" of running a vehicle using water and folks are naturally a bit skeptical of the legitimacy of such an "idea".
The concept is really counterintuitive. . . hey, don't firemen put water on fires to put them out?
I used to think this way but one day in 1968 I visited a friend who raced stock cars and he showed me a water device he used on his engine.
He explained to me that it allowed him to "lean" the fuel mixture and he could drive farther on a gallon of gas.
His system was very basic consisting of a simple water bottle and a hose to the intake manifold, that's it. The water also smoothed the detonation of the gas making the engine last longer. He had to explain these things to me because I was just a little kid at the time.
Later, I learned that the racing industry has used varying types of water systems for many years!
I wonder why the general public doesn't know about this?
An easy way to understand it is that while water alone cannot run an engine it can take up space! What do I mean by that? Think of it this way; a cylinder in an engine fills up with gas and air in the intake stroke and if you add some water. . .BANG. . . you need less gas to take up that space!
If you squirted in a bunch of water like a fireman guess what, the engine would die. . .BUT. . . if you meter the amount of water to just enough then you control the burn and take up some cylinder space and require less gas. The idea is quite simple.
I would not be too quick to debunk the idea of using water to save gas - it really does work.
